Anti-prime: A times tables game

times tables gameHere’s an excellent game to help children develop their use of the multiplication tables.

Give a pair of children the grid of numbers, illustrated below. Each player also needs a set of coloured counters.

They take it in turns to identify a square where they want to place one of their counters. In order to keep the counter there they must correctly state two factors that produce that specific product. Read more »

The game uses a windows board which is based on a photograph of a real building, the resource could be used as part of a topic on buildings or homes. Or the idea can be transferred to large-scale use in the playground using chalk or card numbers. Read more »
