Cars - Number Line

maths number line - car themeQ. How many cars does it take to make a Number Line?

A. Half as many as you think it would...

That's because we've just built a number-line using 'cars' as the theme - and using the shape of the cars themselves to accentuate the odd and even numbers.

Each car stretches across two consecutive numbers, the wheels marking the locations of each number. Jump from front wheel of each car to the front wheel of the next car to count the Even numbers. Use the back wheels to count the Odd numbers. The numbers are also colour coded (Grey and white) according to the odd and even structure.

The number line has many different uses, either as a wall display or desktop counting aid.

The download includes the numbers 1 to 40 in groups of ten:

The colour of the cars themselves forms a useful repeating pattern and we have also thought carefully about the font. As usual, we have created very high quality images so the number line could be printed out larger then A4 or used as part of an IWB resource.

mathsticks+ members can access a matching 1-120 numberline via their dashboard.

This resource is brilliant.

This resource is brilliant.  I love the oral/mental starters and the children are enjoying them.  Can't wait to explore the rest of the website.  Thank you.
