Flower Counting
This resource is in response to a member's request. They liked our Spider Counting resource but wanted something a little more 'girl friendly'. We thought of flowers - sorry, you see we can be predictable when we try!
This colourful, simple number resources has been designed so that young children can develop continue to develop their understanding of counting and number recognition.
The neat lines of flowers show quantities from zero to ten.
The flower images have been deliberately placed with a break between the fifth and sixth flower. This is so that number combinations are easy to recognise: 6 can be seen as 5 and 1; while 7 can be seen as 5 and 2... etc.
You can use the resource in a number ways:
Combine the three A4 pages to make a large display
poster showing numbers from zero to 10.
As a maths activity (or for assessment purposes), the resource could be cut into separate horizontal strips. Separated like this, the children can now:
- sort or count the flowers;
- match a quantity of counters to a specific line of flowers;
If you remove the numerical labels, the children can put the flower-lines in order, or re-label the flower-lines.
As always, we would love to hear how this works for you.
If you found this maths resource useful please spare a couple of seconds to tell others about it .
