Flash Card Number Bonds

Flash-card number bondsThis is a simple flip over maths resource. A double-sided card showing a mathsticks character and a number. The opposite side of the card shows the complimentary number to make 10.

These can be used as a demonstration and/or questioning resource; alternatively, the children can use them to challenge each other.

The attached file* is a 3 page pdf, five cards depicting the bonds 1-9, 2-8, 3-7, 4-6, 5-5, and an additional blank card.

To make the resource, print the file, cut each page in half vertically and then fold the strip horizontally to create the back-to-back image. Finally, laminate the cards.

These have been deliberately designed with plenty of white-space, but can easily be trimmed if you want smaller cards.

Thank You. For the next term I am working with a small group of SEN children in year 5. Lots and lots of overlearning, little and often, so nice to find something different to keep them engrossed

 The children love playing

The children love playing this as a game taking it in turns to correctly name the complementary number and "win" the card if they are correct. It has been a good resource for differentiating OMS and getting my lower attaining group to work independently.

These are great! I look forward to using them as a starter activity and know that the children will love using them in pairs. When laminated, the blank card can be used by the children with marker pens to test one another. I hope to be using your adapted version with bonds to 20 next term. Can you also adapt these for bonds to 100 and 1000?

After finding the Number Bond

After finding the Number Bond Flash Cards to 20 I searched for this set as an accompaniment, as I think they are fab. I wanted to find something to engage and help older children who are not secure with number bonds and these fit the bill. Thank you so much.
